Last One!

Thank you all for reading the blog, and for your support (prayers and financially) that made this trip possible! This has been an incredible group of students and adults, and I can't wait for you all to hear their stories.

WARNING FOR PARENTS:
Sometimes trips like these can lead to isolation, depression, and feelings of irritation for a few days after the trip because of the things we have experienced. Please be aware that these feelings are normal (leaving complete poverty and coming back to a life of abundance) for students and adults alike. Also, know that stories may not start coming out until each person is ready to share. Please be patient and sensitive to what your children are dealing with. When it is the right time...they will start sharing and talking for as long as you can handle it! : )

Please let me (Cliff) or Allie know if you are concerned or need help!

Malnutrition Center & Some Pics

Today our group went to the malnutrition center to play with, hold, and love 70+ children that have been orphaned or dropped off by parents that can't afford to feed them. The center is managed and maintained by only a handful of people, so the children often go without/or get very little attention (being held, hugged, and kissed) but ARE being fed and taken care of. Our group got to run around with, hug, and love on these kids almost all day long!! Some of the pictures are below: (more pictured coming tomorrow)

Day Six, April 7 (Morning)

What a beautiful day in Antigua, Guatemala!

We are definitely not in Guatemala City anymore, but the need for Jesus in this amazing city is still very evident. Antigua is an old colonial (Spanish) city, with adobe buildings painted in dull yellows, reds, and orange everywhere! The streets are completely made of cobblestone and are flooded with tourists from all over the world.

We are working with Iglesia del Camino (google them for more information) all day today. We will be visiting a malnutrition center for half the day and prayer walking the other half. More to come later today/tonight!

Day Four, April 5

Going to keep this short and sweet...

Another amazing day, and a lot of great things happening in this beautiful country. Our group started today out by leading a VBS at the school in Guatemala City that our church family, Lakewood, supports. Our students, your children, grandchildren, and friends are absolutely falling in love with these precious children!

Our afternoon was spent doing a few different things: construction on 'homes' in the landfill, visiting a village (Santa Maria de Jesus), and visiting the International Justice Mission office in Guatemala City. So much more to tell, but we all need sleep!!

From Katie Schmid:
Dearest family of mine whom I miss greatly, Timothy, John, Mom, and Dad I miss you all and love you. Please check my iPod on my desk and if it is dead, no light on, please charge on ihome. Please remove from charging 12 hours later Love you Kathryn
